Luciano Cordeiro

Luciano Baptista Cordeiro de Sousa ( born June 21, 1844 in Miran Delaware, Alto Tras- os- Montes, † December 24, 1900 in Lisbon ) was a Portuguese writer and geographer.

Cordeiro was active only in the Portuguese navy, left then to devote himself to journalism, and later became co-founder of the Geographical Society in Lisbon ( Sociedade de Geografia de Lisboa ) (whose secretary he was later ) as well as a professor of philosophy at the military college. He made it tours throughout Europe, the political economy to his material and provided other scientific papers, and edited the 1879-80 Commercio de Lisboa, then the Diario de Lisboa, after he had already previously worked at various magazines as an editor or an employee. He was a member of the regeneration Party ( Partido da Regeneração ).

In addition to writings on the question bank and his travel reports by France, Bavaria, Austria and Italy ( " Viagens ", 1874-75, 2 vols ), he published " Livro de crítica ", a collection of witty aesthetic and critical essays ( 1869-71, 2 vols ), and the French- written works: " de la part prize par les Portugal dans la découverte de l' Amérique " (1875 ) and " L' africaine hydrography " (1879 ). In 1879, Cordeiro was in Rio de Janeiro in the interest of his country in the forthcoming exhibition. He took in 1884 at the Congo Conference.
