Luciano (singer)

Luciano (born Jepther McClymont, born October 20, 1964 in Davey Town, Manchester Parish ) is a Jamaican roots reggae singer. His stage name is a reference to the Italian-American gangster Lucky Luciano. He is currently VP Records. Luciano is the seventh of nine children and grew up in a very spiritual and musical family.

Career

Jepther McClymont was heavily influenced by Stevie Wonder, Frankie Paul and the reggae legend Dennis Brown. While he worked with Fattis Burells Xterminator label he changed his name to Luciano. During this time he also developed his distinctive roots influences. After he recorded several LPs for Burell he recorded a set for Iceland Records, before he made ​​himself independent and an independent career took off. His most important work to date is his album "Jah Words ' ( released worldwide on 26 April 2005 RAS Record).

After he recorded several cover versions for the Producer Sky High, Luciano released " Give My Love A Try", the name of the studio was produced in the Castro Brown's New in Jamaica and was a great success. There he met Luciano and Freddie McGregor, who was the former flagship of the studio and was also known internationally. When he joined McGregor's Big Ship production company, he began to create a distinctive kind of reggae, in which reflected his religion and his social concerns. In 1993, it managed to Luciano with his hit "Shake It Up Tonight" at No. 1 on the charts in the UK.

Luciano won several major awards and was voted " Most Spiritual and Educative Singer ' and Mandela 's ' Most Cultural Artist " is selected. He was even a plaque presented by the Jamaican government to honor his work.
