Luděk Marold

Luděk Marold ( born August 7, 1865 in Prague, † December 1, 1898 ) was a Czech painter and graphic artist.

Life

The orphan, his father died in the German War of 1866, his mother six years later, began with sixteen years his studies at the Prague Academy, was excluded and continued his studies from 1881 to 1887 continued the Professor Ludwig von Lofftz in Munich, where she learned, among other know Aleš and other Czech painters. He returned to the Prague Academy back and was informed by Maximilián Pirner, working in his studio and became editor of the association Manes. In 1889 he moved to the artistic and industrial school in Prague, where he received a scholarship for a Paris stay. In Paris he lived until 1897 of drawings for various publications. He also learned here how many artists Vojtěch Hynais know. As already excellent artist, he returned to Prague.

Works

During his studies, he was responsible for a number of German magazines. His other works are most striking illustrations or representations, who practiced mainly on the Czech Art Nouveau inspirational influence. We are especially famous his oil paintings Egg Market in Prague ( Vaječný trh v Praze ) 1888 or the panoramic image Bitva u Lipan ( Battle of Lipany ). It is an eleven meters high and 95 meters long image. The sketches for the painting were made directly in Lipany, the decisive battle of the Hussite Wars. Worked on the picture have the landscape painter Václav Jansa, set designer Karel STAPFER, colorist Theodor Hilšer and the horse painter Vacátek.
