Ludwig Babenstuber

Babenstuber Ludwig (* 1660 in Deining in Munich, † April 5, 1726 in Ettal ) was a German Benedictine and professor at the University of Salzburg.

Life

Balthasar ( = baptismal name ) Babenstuber graduated in 1680 his secondary studies at the Jesuit School Munich ( today Wilhelmsgymnasium Munich ) from.

He was since 1681 in Ettal Benedictine, 1690-93 he was professor of philosophy at the University of Salzburg, after which he spent two years in Schlehdorf monastery. Between 1695 and 1717 he was in Salzburg professor of casuistry of scholastic theology and exegesis. Between 1709 and 1716 he was also Prokanzler the university. From 1717 until his death he lived again in his monastery Ettal.

As a scholar, he enjoyed his time a considerable reputation.
