Ludwig Schwarz

Ludwig Schwarz SDB ( born June 4, 1940 in Bruck, Slovakia) is Roman Catholic Bishop of Linz.

Life

Ludwig Schwarz was the first of nine children and grew up in Bruck an der Donau ( Most pri Bratislave ) on. After the expulsion of his family from Slovakia in 1945, he came to Vienna. There he attended primary school and the lower level of Gymnasium Wien 13, Fichtnergasse and joined with 14 years in the construction of the Salesians of Don Bosco High School in Unterwaltersdorf. In June 1959, he passed the Matura and came after the Order of the Salesians of Don Bosco. Here he first put down a two-year educational placement. The first year he graduated as a general assistant in Unterwaltersdorf, the second in the dormitory Vinzentinum in Klagenfurt.

He studied philosophy in Unterwaltersdorf, Catholic theology in Klagenfurt and from 1961 to 1964 at the Philosophical - Theological College Benediktbeuren. He was ordained a priest by the Bishop of Augsburg Josef Stimpfle on 29 June 1964. After that, he was a short time temporary chaplain in the parish of Don Bosco in Graz. He studied classical philology and archeology at the University of Vienna and was at the same hospital chaplain at Sacred Heart Hospital. In 1970 he became a Doctor of Philosophy. From 1969 to 1978 he was Rector of the inter-diocesan seminary for priests late professions in Horn ( Canisius home ), then to 1984, Provincial of the Salesian Province Austrian based in Vienna. In 1984 he became director of the international church Konviktes " Don Bosco " at the Pontifical Salesian University in Rome. From 1985, he taught classical and Christian Studies at the university there. In 1993 he was Provincial of the Roman Province of the Salesians of Don Bosco ( " Visitatoria Roma UPS" ).

From February 1999 to February 2005 he was National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Austria ( Missio ). Pope John Paul II appointed him on 15 October 2001 as Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Vienna and titular bishop of Simidicca. The bishop ordained Ludwig Schwarz on November 25 by Christoph Cardinal Schönborn in Vienna's St. Stephen's Cathedral. He conducted the diocesan Department for Mission and Development.

Bishop of Linz

Ludwig Schwarz was on 6 July 2005 by Pope Benedict XVI. appointed diocesan bishop of Linz and inaugurated on September 18.

Black bishop continued the reforms of his predecessor Maximilian Aichern discontinued. Unlike his predecessor Bishop Black is not willing to grant exemptions from the ecclesiastical norms. Expectations of parts of the church people in the Diocese of Linz, continue to have to make sermons and baptisms by lay people, he did not meet, even with regard to the Eucharist, the sacrament is black not willing to compromise and adheres strictly to the Catholic practice of closed communion.

2011 Black entpflichtete the heavily criticized Kopfinger priest Andrzej Skoblicki, this decision took but soon returned. He took the end of 2011 Skoblickis voluntary, filed after a break due to illness resignation.
