Luigi de Magistris (bishop)

Luigi de Magistris ( born February 23, 1926 in Cagliari) is Emeritus Pro- Major Penitentiary.

Life

Luigi de Magistris received on 12 April 1952, and was ordained priest incardinated in the clergy of the Archdiocese of Cagliari. Pope John Paul II appointed him on 11 April 1979 Offizial of the Apostolic Penitentiary, and on 6 March 1996 as Titular Bishop of Nova.

The Archbishop of Genoa, Cardinal Giovanni Canestri, donated to him on April 28th of the same year, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were Ottorino Pietro Alberti, Archbishop of Cagliari, and Tarcisio Pillolla, Auxiliary Bishop of Cagliari.

On November 22, 2001, he was appointed Titular Archbishop per hac vice of Nova and Pro - Major Penitentiary. On 4 October 2003 John Paul II accepted his resignation due to age.
