Luigi Guanella

Luigi Guanella, even Aloysius Guanella, ( born October 9, 1842 in Madesimo, † October 24, 1915 in Como ) was an Italian, a Catholic priest and founder of the order. He is venerated as a saint in the Catholic Church.

Guanella joined with 12 years in the seminary and received priestly ordination in 1866. He is the founder of Krankenpflegorden the " Daughters of Mary of Providence " and the " servant of love." He founded together with John Bosco, with whom he was friends, 1866 in Como and other places "houses of Divine Providence " where physically and mentally disabled people were looked after.

Guanella founded the " Fraternity of the death of Saint Joseph ", in which the then Pope Pius X was registered as the first member. It was canonically recognized on February 17, 1913 for " Confraternity " and levied " Primaria ", ie she could erect daughter brotherhoods. This worldwide community of prayer for the dying is supervised in Germany by the Congregation of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Saint Marc, which has its headquarters in the monastery St.Trudpert.
