Luigi Rizzo

Luigi Rizzo, Count of Grado and Premandura ( born October 8, 1887 in Milazzo, † 27 July 1951 in Rome ) was an Italian naval officer.

After training at the Naval Academy in Livorno, he became lieutenant in 1912. He took part in the First World War. As commander of torpedo boats, he carried out some spectacular actions. In December 1917 he sank the Austrian battleship off Trieste Vienna, on 10 June 1918, as Premandura the battleship Szent István. For this achievement, he received the Golden Medal for Bravery.

In 1919 he participated in Gabriele d' Annunzio march on Fiume part. In 1920 he retired as a highly decorated commander of the Italian Navy and worked at shipping companies and shipyards. Under King Victor Emmanuel III. he was knighted and received the title of Conte di Grado e Premandura. In 1943 he was deported due to sabotage his daughter to Germany. Rizzo died in 1951 from a serious illness.
