Luis Alberto Luna Tobar

Luis Alberto Luna Tobar OCD (* December 15, 1923 in Quito ) is Archbishop Emeritus of Cuenca.

Life

Luis Alberto Luna Tobar joined the Congregation of the Discalced Carmelites and received on June 23, 1946 the ordination to the priesthood.

Paul VI. appointed him auxiliary bishop on August 17, 1977 in Quito and Titular Bishop of Mulli. The Bishop of Cardinal Pablo Muñoz Vega SJ Lisala consecrated him on 18 September of the same year to the bishop; Co-consecrators were José Antonio González Zumárraga, Auxiliary Bishop of Quito, José Gabriel Diaz Cueva, Bishop of Azogues.

On March 6, 1981, he was appointed Archbishop of Cuenca. On 15 February 2000, Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation age-related.
