Luis Franco (writer)

Luis Franco, Luis Leopoldo actually Franco ( * November 15, 1898 in Belén, Catamarca Province, † June 1, 1988 in Ciudadela, Buenos Aires ) was an Argentine writer.

Life

Franco was born into a family of landowners; he was a son of Luis Antonio Franco and his wife Balbina Acosta. After leaving school in his hometown, he went to study law in Buenos Aires. Immediately after completion of this study, he returned home.

1919 graduated Franco his military service, he " ... größteils in the punishment cell spent " then lived and worked for many years as a farmer Franco. During this time, in 1948 and again in 1956 lecturer at the Universidad de Buenos Aires he was offered, but he refused both times strictly.

His last years were spent Luis Franco in a nursing home in Ciudad ( Buenos Aires ). He died on 1 June 1988 penniless at the age of 89 years and found his final resting place.

Reception

Franco's multi-layered work, it is yet to be discovered. His poetry is characterized by Federico de Onís by " fresh and vital wealth " and leaves a certain proximity to Virgil, but also to Albert Samain guessed. Colleagues, especially to Leopoldo Lugones and Enrique Banchs, praised in his verses traditionalism.

With the first of his three anthologies - Suma (1938 ) - Franco pursued but a hymn-like mood, which is reminiscent of Walt Whitman.

With his works by José María Paz, Juan Manuel de Rosas, inter alia, Franco shows his skills as a historian. His autobiography is written in this style and is considered a sharp reckoning with Peronism.
