Luka Bloom

Luka Bloom (born Kevin Barry Moore, * May 23, 1955 in Newbridge, County Kildare ) is an Irish singer, musician and songwriter.

Life

Luka Bloom is the younger brother of Christy Moore. His stage name he borrowed from the title Luka by Suzanne Vega and the last name of the main character Leopold Bloom from the novel Ulysses by James Joyce.

His brother in 1969 took him for the first time on tour, 1978, the first of three albums under his actual name, but after the last album of this period, he disappeared for a few years back for the time being out of the picture. 1987 Bloom moved to the USA, where he regularly appeared in two pubs and finally settled in New York. Under his new stage name, he was able to finally establish itself as a folk-rock artist and brought out in the following albums, which are mainly characterized by his vocals and his acoustic guitar in his live recording of Amsterdam, he is entirely without hearing accompaniment. On the albums The Acoustic Motorbike and Keeper Of The Flame Bloom is accompanied by his brother on the bodhrán, the latter album consists entirely of cover versions. The mid-1990s he returned to Ireland.

Bloom often collaborated with other artists, including the Irish singer Sinead O'Connor.
