Luke Hansard

Luke Hansard (* 1752 in Norwich, † October 29, 1828 ) was an English printer.

Luke Hansard learned the art of printing, came in 1772 when Parliament printer Hughes in London as a translator, in 1799 the partnership and took over in 1800 the whole business. He died on 29 October 1828th From 1774 until his death he moved the Journals of the House of Commons, the debate protocols of the House.

His eldest son, Thomas Curson Hansard (* 1776, † May 14, 1833 ), since 1805 owner of a small printing press, wrote the still highly esteemed in England Typographia, an historical sketch of the origin and progress of printing ( London 1825). The same so-called Andre grayling manual of printing ( Frankfurt 1827) is a basis.
