Luna Leopold

Luna Bergere Leopold ( born October 8, 1915 in Albuquerque, New Mexico; † 23 February 2006 in Berkeley, California ) was a leading American geologist, hydrologist and geomorphologist and the son of Aldo Leopold.

Leopold developed a new Philiosphie the water and suggested that they not only due to traditional factors such as economic, social and political principles, but also to the geological, geographical and climatic bases. He argued that the management of water resources can not be successful if it is alone seen from an economic and political point of view.

In 1973 he received the GK Warren Science Award of the National Academy of Sciences. In 1991 he was awarded the National Medal of Science, in 1994 with the Penrose Medal, and in 2006 with the Benjamin Franklin Medal in the field of geosciences.
