List of Penrose Medal winners
The Penrose Medal is an important award of the Geological Society of America for contributions to the advancement of the geosciences. It was 1927 by R.A.F. Penrose, Jr. donated.
Should be especially rewarded important geological research, outstanding original contributions or achievements that mean a great advance in geology. The prize is awarded by a committee, regardless of nationality. The winners are not necessarily members of the Geological Society of America.
There is also a Penrose Gold Medal of the Society of Economic Geologists.
