Geography

Lunzig located near the federal road 92 ( Gera - Greiz ) at the dam Leuba. Within a small radius of Lunzigberg is the highest elevation with 386.7 meters.

The municipality Lunzig included the hamlet of Crouch.

History

Was first documented Lunitzk ( Slavic: " place where there are hawks " ) in 1462 in connection with interest payments to the monastery Cronschwitz. The Lunziger ring wall dates from the last third of the 14th century and originally enclosed a castle, which was located south of the manor. 1995 was found in ceramic works from the 14th to 16th century.
