Lusanga, Kwilu

Lusanga, formerly Lever Ville, is a town in the district Kwilu Bandundu province of the Democratic Republic of Congo in Africa.

Geography

History

The name of Lusanga in the Belgian colonial period was Lever Ville, the founder of the British company Unilever William Lever. 1911 Lever signed a contract with the Government of Belgium, where these Unilever allowed access to the palm oil producers. The head office for the purchase of fruits of the oil palm, palm oil and palm kernel oil was established in Lever Ville. Furthermore, the company Huileries du Congo Belge built a large factory for the production of palm oil in Lever Ville. This was one of three in the district Kwilu.

Traffic

Lusanga is located on the National Road N 1, which connects the country from Kinshasa in the west to the east with the Kasai provinces ( Occidental and Oriental ). It has a small airport with the IATA code LUS.
