Lusatian Lake District

The Lusatian Lakeland ( Lower Łužyska jazorina, Upper Sorbian Łužiska jězorina ) is an artificial lake area in Lusatia. Geography

The Lusatian Lakeland is located in Lusatia between Calau in Brandenburg and Görlitz in Saxony. The total expansion of Europe 's largest artificial lakes in the future plate is from west to east about 80 kilometers from north to south (depending on definition) 32-40 kilometers.

Formation

System of lakes

In the center of the Lusatian Lake District is created by the combination of nine lakes with the navigable channels Lusatian lakes chain, which will have a special meaning for the tourist development of Lower Lusatia, with about 7,000 hectares of water. The plan is the seascape to a nationally significant water landscape with an attractive sporting character will allow. Some of these waters also located in the central region of the Lusatian Lake District are flooded gravel pits, but are in some cases for over half a century touristy and used by the local population as lakes. On Tornoer pond (popularly known as Torn'scher pond ) in Lautaer district Torno about is next to a beach, a leisure center with mini golf, beach volleyball court and a snack hut. On Ziegelteich in Bröthen - Michalken (part of Hoyerswerda ) there is also a holiday park.

The current flooding state of the lakes is currently on average about 75 percent of the final volume (as of March 2011).
