Luther Reily

Luther Reily ( born October 17, 1794 in Myerstown, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, † February 20, 1854 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. Between 1837 and 1839 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Luther Reily graduated from preparatory schools. After a subsequent medical studies and his medical license, he started in Harrisburg to work in this profession. He also held various local offices. In 1814 he took part at times as a simple soldier and then as a doctor at the British -American War. He then continued his medical career. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party.

In the congressional elections of 1836 Reily was the tenth electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of William Clark on March 4, 1837. Until March 3, 1839, he was able to complete a term in Congress. After his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Reily practiced as a doctor again. He died on February 20, 1854 in Harrisburg, where he was also buried.
