Luther Terry

Luther Leonidas Terry ( born September 15, 1911 in Red Level, Covington County, Alabama, † March 29, 1985 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania ) was an American physician and dated March 2, 1961 to October 1, 1965 Surgeon General of the United States. He was appointed by President John F. Kennedy to the Surgeon General and was especially known for his warnings about the health consequences of tobacco use.
