Lydia Lopokova

Lydia Lopokova (originally Russian Лидия Васильевна Лопухова / Lidija Wassiljewna Lopuchowa, after marriage Baroness Keynes, born October 21, 1892 in Saint Petersburg, † June 8, 1981 in Tilton, Firle, East Sussex ) was a Russian ballet dancer.

Lopokova was trained at the Imperial Ballet School of the Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg. In 1910 she went to Paris to be Diaghilev 's Ballets Russes to join. Throughout her career, she always returned to the Ballets Russes. Among her friends were such famous personalities such as Vaslav Nijinsky, Stravinsky and Pablo Picasso, who immortalized her in some drawings.

Lopokova was married twice, his first wife, with the ballet Manager Randolfo Barrochi and from 1925 to 1946 with the economist John Maynard Keynes. After the death of her second husband, she lived a very secluded life in England.
