Lynbrook is a village in the Town of Hempstead in Nassau County, New York, USA. At the 2000 census, there were 19,911 inhabitants. By 2006, the population increased to 29,000. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.0 square miles (5.2 km2). The current mayor is Brian Curran.

Lynbrook belongs to the 4th Congressional District of New York State, which is currently represented by Democrat Carolyn McCarthy. At the federal state based Lynbrook falls in the 9th electoral district to the Senate of New York and in the 14th legislative district of the State Assembly. The Long Iceland Railroad connects with Lynbrook Manhattan and Brooklyn in New York City.

History

The area around present-day Lynbrook was originally called Bloomfield. Later it was Pearsall 's Corners named after Pearsall 's General Store. It was a well-known stagecoach stop for travelers from New York City to Long Iceland. The village was incorporated in 1911.
