Lynda Benglis

Lynda Benglis ( born October 25, 1941 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, United States) is an American artist who was known for her sculptures, watercolors, prints, photographs and installations.

Life

She studied at Newcomb College and graduated from there with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. She lives in New York City, East Hampton ( New York) and Santa Fe.

1974 saw the November issue of the Art Newspaper Artforum for a scandal when it reprinted a switched by the artist advertisement, in which the artist nude, an oversized dildo persistently published.

This image, originally planned as an independent work by the artist, should, after they learned of the publication of an article by Pincus - Witten, will be printed at the request of the artist prior to the relevant post. As the publisher rejected this, the artist bought for a sum of $ 3000 U.S. dollars a double-sided display and placed it in front of the corresponding article. Lynda Benglis was awarded on July 21, 2012 with the Erich Hauser price of Art Foundation Erich Hauser. The award ceremony and exhibition opening titled FLOW AND MARKS was on July 21 and can be visited until 26 August in the workshop hall of the Art Foundation Erich Hauser in Rottweil.
