Lyrics Born

Lyrics Born ( Tom Shimura bourgeois, born 1972 in Tokyo, Japan) is a Japanese -born hip- hop artist. He founded together with Lateef the Truth Speaker, the duo Latyrx.

Biography

Born in Japan, he grew most of the time in Berkley, California, on and there had first contact with hip-hop. His own music career started in 1990 at the University of California, Davis, where he met several other music enthusiasts on the student radio station KDVS. These included Lateef The Truth Speaker ( Lateef Daumont ), Gift of Gab (Timothy Parker) and Chief Xcel ( Xavier Mosley ), together Blackalicious, DJ Shadow ( Josh Davis) and Jeff " DJ Zen" Chang.

Together they founded the independent label Quannum Projects.

Appeared in 1993 with Send Them the first release with DJ Shadow and 1995 with Latyrx The Album finally followed the first commercial success. 1999 then appeared the Spectrum compilation, which sold over 100,000 copies worldwide.
