M4 (Istanbul Metro)
The line M4 (not to be confused with the light rail line T4 or " Hafif Metro " located on the European side of the city) is a subway line of the Istanbul Metro on the Asian side of Istanbul. The line is operated by the public transport company İstanbul ulaşım and was opened on 17 August 2012. The plans date back to 2005, since 2010 was built.
Importance
The line M4 has an important meaning for the commuter traffic from the Asian side of the city to Europe, where most of the companies and jobs are located. She is currently ends at Kadıköy ferry terminal. With the completion of the Marmaray commuter train tunnel under the Bosporus on October 29, 2013 its importance for the Eurasian shuttle will increase. There are already at the station Ünalan a transfer possibility for Metrobüs which connects Asia with Europe.
Development and operation
The route, which includes 16 stations runs completely underground in a southeasterly direction along the densely populated areas under the D-100 highway. At the terminus Kadıköy is an interchange with tram line T3. In Ayrılıkçeşme can be within walking distance to the commuter train station İbrahimağa. Trains run initially in a 150 -second interval, which will be later converted into a 90 -second intervals. The longest distance between two stations consists of 2.3 km between Bostanci and Küçükyalı. Training and ongoing construction
