The M50 motorway (English for, M50 ') is an Irish motorway which forms the C-shaped ring road around Dublin. In the north, the route ends at the entrance to the Dublin Port Tunnel, the southern end is at the intersection with the M11. It is a part of European route 1

History

About the construction of the highway was first considered in 1971, and then submitted to the National Transport Committee. The construction of the first section, the Western Parkway, began in 1987. The section between junctions 6 ( Blanchardstown ) and 11 ( Tallaght ) was then opened to traffic in 1990. This was followed by 1996, the Northern Cross section between junctions 3 (cross- M1 ) and 6, 2001 before the opening of the section between junctions 11 and 13 ( Dundrum ) followed.

The entire M50 motorway was opened on 30 June 2005, before later, the Dublin Port Tunnel was opened to traffic on 20 December 2006.

In spring 2006, the M50 was started with the renovation. Many of the roundabouts were replaced by crossing-free exits so traffic can flow more fluid and there is less congestion. In addition, the highway between the cross with the M1 and junction 13 Sandyford There was increased to six lanes. On Sunday, February 7, 2010, the M50 was fully completed.

Course

Counterclockwise, the M50 starts at the entrance of the Dublin Port Tunnel (Toll ) and passes through the tunnel to the north, before turning on the Cross with the M1 to the west. Later they crossed the Liffey on the West -Link toll bridge. At the south- eastern end of the M50 Dublin turns into the M11.
