Maaleht

Maaleht ( " Country Journal ") is a weekly newspaper in Estonia. It first appeared on October 1, 1987, still under Soviet occupation of Estonia but already in the sign of greater freedom through glasnost and perestroika. The editors of Maaleht located in the Estonian capital Tallinn.

Maaleht is directed primarily to an audience outside of the cities. The audience, which included many Estonian farmers belong, has remained relatively stable over the years. Today Maaleht achieved with a weekly circulation of 42,000 127,000 people, about a tenth of the Estonian population. So it is with the reader in third place after Postimees and Õhtuleht.

Maaleht since 2007 belongs to AS Eesti Ekspress Grupp of Estonia's media entrepreneur Hans H. Luik. The group includes the important political weekly newspaper in Estonia, Eesti Ekspress, the daily Eesti Päevaleht and the largest circulation tabloid in the country, Õhtuleht.
