Maasbree

( Listen? / I ) maasbree was a town in the Dutch province of Limburg. Besides Maasbree, where was the local government, there are Baarlo with a second district. Both villages are about the same. January 1, 2010 Maasbree was merged together with heroes, boilers and Meijel to the new community Peel en Maas.

Location and economic

Baarlo lies on the western bank of the Maas, only 6.5 kilometers south of Venlo Blerick district. Maasbree is located about 4 km north-west of Baarlo ( A73 Venlo - Eindhoven, exit 38 heroes, distance 7 km). In Blerick is the nearest railway station. The bike path on the north Fietsallee channel runs through the town.

The population lives mainly on agriculture and horticulture.

History

Maasbree was first mentioned as Bree in 1240 urkündlich.

The name of the village is Baarlo of bar = bare, without vegetation and lo = value for use of forest people be derived.

Both places were from the late Middle Ages to the duchy of Guelders, and later, after the War of Spanish Succession from 1702 until the Congress of Vienna in 1814 to the Kingdom of Prussia.
