Maatsuyker Islands
The Maatsuyker Islands are an archipelago in the South Pacific. They lie just a few kilometers off the southern coast of the Australian island of Tasmania.
Geography
The group, which extends from northeast to southwest across approximately 13 kilometers in a straight line, are six small islands
- De Witt Iceland
- Flat Top Iceland
- Flat Witch Iceland
- Maatsuyker Iceland
- Round Top Iceland
- Walker Iceland
And more rugged rock formations, among other things
- Needle Rocks
- Western Rocks.
The largest island is De Witt Iceland, Iceland 's second largest Maatsuyker, which owes its name to the entire archipelago.
Use
Only on the main island Maatsuyker Iceland there are buildings, today an automatically -operated lighthouse and an unmanned weather station and a small heliport.
The islands are part of the Southwest National Park, Tasmania.
