Needle Rocks

The Needle Rocks, also known simply Needles, are associated with the Maatsuyker Islands rocky islands off the southeast cape of Tasmania and have a total area of 10.5 hectares. They consist of five main rocks and some smaller boulders that form a few meters from the southwestern point of Maatsuyker Iceland from a roughly two -mile range to the west. They belong to the South West National Park.

Flora and Fauna

Vegetation on the island consists only in the form of succulent Carpobrotus rossii.

Among the marine and wading birds fairy penguins, the short-tailed shearwaters, Feensturmvögel, diving petrels and the carbon black oystercatchers were recorded; places, there are also skinks. At certain seasons can be found on some sides of the rocks South African fur seals.
