Mael Mórdha

Mael MORDHA (pronounced: Email bog -ah) is a Doom and Celtic metal band from Dublin in Ireland. The band describes their style as " Gaelic Doom Metal".

History

Mael MORDHA was founded in January 1998 by Roibéard Ó Bogail ( ex- singer of Dreamsfear ). A year later, the first EP of the band, The Path to Insanity, recorded. Only a few months later, in spring 2000 The Inferno Spreads. Shortly afterwards, got out the two guitar players in the band, pushed for Gerry Clince with only a guitar player back to the band. In the following years, the band worked through numerous appearances in Ireland a certain level of recognition in their home country. After several bassist Jump at this time the band found a permanent new member with the Pagan Reign bassist Dave Murphy.

Thanks to the two successful EPs Caoineadh na nGael and Cluain Tarbh the Danish label Karmageddon Media took the band under contract. The debut album Cluain Tarbh was finally released on 12 September 2005. An alternative version of the title song was released on a split LP with Primordial by Sentinel Records in winter 2005. 2005, Mael MORDHA applied to the Irish preliminary of the Euro Vision Song Contest with the aim of playing for Ireland in the final in Kiev in the Ukraine.

Due to serious internal problems, which also affected the sales of the album, Mael MORDHA terminated the contract with Karmageddon and moved in February 2006 to the German label Grau Records. On 19 March 2007, the second album, Gaeltacht Mael MORDHA appeared. The title means something like battle madness of Mael MORDHA. The debut album was 2008 by gray Records including two bonus tracks which originate from his 1999 EP The Path to Insanity, republished. Over the years, the band played also in several major concerts and festivals such as Abbeyleix Metalfest (1999), Day Of Darkness (2003, 2004, 2007 ), Bloodstock (2006), Heathen Crusade II ( Saint Paul, USA - 2007), Doom Shall Rise ( Göppingen - 2007) and Dutch Doom Days (Rotterdam - 2007).

The third album, Manannán, was published on 14 May 2010.

Style

The music Mael Mórdhas can assign the Doom Metal. Influences from other genres such as progressive metal or the traditional Irish folk complement the musical concept. The song is both clear croaking, so presented with tendencies to growl. The lyrics of the songs behalden the " mystical and bloody past of Ireland ". Compared is the band among other things, Primordial, My Dying Bride, Cathedral and Paradise Lost.
