Maelgwn ab Owain Gwynedd

Maelgwn from Owain ( † after 1173 ) was a Lord of the Welsh principality of Gwynedd.

He was a son of Owain Gwynedd and his wife Gwladus, a subsidiary of Llywarch ap Trahern and thus a brother of Drwyndwn Iorwerth, Llywelyn ap Iorwerth 's father. In the division of the empire after the death of his father in 1170 he became ruler of Anglesey. He was expelled in 1173 by his half-brother Dafydd and fled to Ireland. When he returned to Gwynedd in the same year, he was taken prisoner by Dafydd. His fate is unknown.
