Maeve Sherlock

Maeve Christina Mary Sherlock, Baroness Sherlock OBE ( born November 10, 1960) is a British Labour Party politician and life peer.

Training

Maeve Sherlock attended Our Lady's School Sermon in Abingdon ( Oxfordshire ). In 1984 she completed her studies at the University of Liverpool with a Bachelor. At the Open University in 1997, she received the degree of Master of Business Administration.

Career

From 1985 to 1990 Maeve Sherlock held various responsibilities in the National Union of Students. Subsequently, she was until 1997 Chief Executive ( Chairman ) of the Council for International Education ( UKCOSA ). Then she led until 2000 the National Council for One Parent Families as Chief Executive. Over the period 2000-2003 Maeve Sherlock was a consultant ( Adviser ) Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown. In 2003 she directed the Refugee Council.

In addition, Sherlock was from 1996 to 1998 Member of the Board of Sheffield Hallam University, and from 1998 to 2000 curator of the National Family and Parenting Institute.

Awards

In 2000, Maeve Sherlock was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire ( OBE). In 2004 she was appointed to the Demos think tank. On June 17, 2010, she was appointed a life peer Life. On 5 July 2010, she was introduced to the House of Lords.
