Magdalena Wilhelmine of Württemberg

Magdalena Wilhelmine of Württemberg ( born November 7, 1677 in Stuttgart, † October 30, 1742 in Karl Castle in Durlach ) was a Margrave of Baden.

She was the daughter of Duke Wilhelm Ludwig of Württemberg and Magdalena Sibylla of Hesse- Darmstadt. In order to strengthen the Baden -Württemberg, she married on June 27, 1697 the hereditary prince of Baden and later Margrave Karl III. Wilhelm of Baden- Durlach. As Magdalena Wilhelmine had a big nose and other blemishes, they did not meet the ideals of beauty Karl Wilhelm, who loved beautiful women. After Magdalena him had given birth to a son and heir, the couple away. When Karl Wilhelm founded his new residence in Karlsruhe in 1715, he moved alone the new castle, while his wife remained in Karl Castle.

After Charles III. William died in 1738, Magdalena Wilhelmine was a member of the regency for her only nine year old grandson Karl -Friedrich. After her death she was buried in the tomb of margrave's Castle Church in Pforzheim.
