Magnes (mythology)

Magnes (Greek Μάγνης ) is in Greek mythology, son of Aeolus and Enarete. His siblings hot Cretheus, Athamas, Salmoneus, Deion, Peisidike, Perieres, Calyce, Perimede, Makarlus, Kanaka and Alcyone. According to another tradition, he is a child of Zeus and Thyia. According to him, the Thessalian Magnesia peninsula was named. The term magnet comes from him.
