Magnus Andersson (handballer)

Per Magnus Andersson ( born May 17, 1966 in Linköping, Sweden) is a Swedish handball coach and former handball player.

Career as a player

Andersson has a body length of 180 cm and weighed 80 kg to his playing days. He is one of the most successful handball players in the world. Between 1988 and 2003 the back center of the room player for Sweden played 307 international matches in which he threw 922 goals. He won including two world champions and three European titles and three silver medals at the Olympic Games.

He he played among others at GWD Minden 1997-1998 and previously at TuS Schutter forest. The exposure to Schutter forest was interrupted by a brief return to Halmstad. In 1998 he moved back to HK Drott Halmstad. Prior to his career in Germany he played in Halmstad, Stavanger ( Norway), Saab and RP.

In December 2003, Andersson was reactivated at the HSG Nordhorn for three games because with Vranjes and Maik Machulla the two regular playmaker of the team were injured. Coach was his long-time team-mate from the national team Ola Lindgren. In the three games he threw a total of twelve gates; he wore the jersey number 22

Career as a coach

After his playing career he coached from 2001 to 2005 the team HK Drott Halmstad. Then Andersson took over as coach at the Danish club FCK Håndbold, which he held until 2010. Under his leadership, the FCK won the 2008 Cup and 2010 the trophy. In the summer of 2010 he took over as coach of the Austrian national team to deliver it in June 2011 after failing to qualify for the European Championship 2012 in Serbia, in agreement with the Association again. Since October 2012 Andersson has worked as an assistant coach of the Swedish U21 national team. In December 2012, he also took over as coach of Hästö IF. Since 1 June 2013, coached the Swedish first division club HK Malmö. From the 2014/15 season he is the coach of Frisch Auf Göppingen take.
