Magnus Eriksson (ice hockey)

Magnus Eriksson ( born August 12, 1973 in Österhaninge, community Haninge ) is a retired Swedish professional ice hockey goaltender and current coach.

Career

Magnus Eriksson began his career as a hockey player with the Hammarby IF, for the first team, he was active in the then still second-class Division 1 1989-1997. He subsequently received a contract with VIK Västerås HK, for which he spent three years in the Elitserien, before he failed in the 2000/ 01 season with the Färjestad BK until the playoff final on Djurgårdens IF. Then, the goalkeeper joined for the first time abroad in Europe, where he stood for three seasons for the Augsburger Panther in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga between the posts.

In summer 2004, Eriksson was obliged by HC Milan of the Italian Serie A, with whom he won the 2005 and 2006 national championship. In addition, the Swede with the Lombards, 2005 in the Coppa Italia, and in 2006 in the Super Coppa Italiana was successful. After the 2006/07 season started again at HC Milan, he changed the course of the season for EC Red Bull Salzburg, with whom he was Austrian champion.

The 2007/08 season Eriksson spent entirely in the Danish AL-Bank Ligaen at the Odense Bulldogs and Sønderjysk elite sport. The following season he started at HK Junost Minsk in the Belarusian Extraliga and finished it in his native Sweden at the IF Björklöven from the second-rate HockeyAllsvenskan. Following Eriksson went for the Swedish third division Mörrums GoIS IK and Nacka HK on the ice. In February 2011, Eriksson was obliged by HC Gherdeina from the series A2 as goalkeeping coach and as an emergency goalkeeper. In the playoffs, he played eight games for the team before he finished his career.

Internationally

For Sweden, Eriksson took part in the 1998 World Cup, in which he became world champion with his team as a goalkeeper, but itself was not used.
