Magnus Pegel

Magnus level, also Magnus Pegelius ( born May 15, 1547 Rostock, † 1619 in Stettin) was a German physician and mathematician.

Life

Magnus level was the son of the professor of rhetoric Konrad level. In 1569 he earned the degree of Master of Arts, in the following year his doctorate at the Faculty of Medicine with a treatise on the plague. In Rostock, he taught mathematics and astrology, in 1579, he was appointed as professor of mathematics in Helmstedt. 1581 he returned to Rostock and was appointed here in 1591 as a full professor of mathematics. In 1589 he eventually married a daughter of the mayor of Rostock.
