Magnus Volk

Magnus Volk ( * October 19, 1851 in Brighton, † May 20, 1937 ) was a British pioneer of electrical engineering.

His most important work is named after him Volk's Electric Railway in Brighton, the world's oldest electric railway. He also built the unique, but short- run Brighton and Rottingdean Seashore Electric Railway, together with the unusual Daddy Long Legs vehicle. In 1887, he caused quite a stir in Brighton by the construction of a three-wheeled electric car, driven by a Immisch engine. In 1888 he built another electric car, this time a four-wheeled carriage on behalf of the Turkish Sultan.

Magnus people was the son of a German watchmaker. He lived in the Dyke Road # 38 in Brighton. On April 8, 1879, he married Anna Banfield in Burgess Hill. George Herbert people, his second son, is considered a pioneer of the construction of seaplanes, while another son, Conrad people, a biography of his father wrote. His great-grandson is the musician Joe people.

Magnus people were buried in the church of St. Wulfran Cemetery in Brighton Ovingdean.
