The Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium is a cricket stadium in Hambantota, Sri Lanka and named after the current president Mahinda Rajapaksa in the country. It was built for the Cricket World Cup 2011 and has a current capacity of 35,000 seats, which will be expanded to 60,000.

Infrastructure

The stadium, which will be extended for the ICC World Twenty20 in 2012, was built in 2009 for an estimated 9 million U.S. dollars.
