Maidan Wardak Province

Wardak ( Pashto: وردګ; Dari: وردک ) is a province ( velayat ) in central Afghanistan, with 581 800 inhabitants. Originally since the 8th century known by the Persian name Maidan, the province was renamed during Paschtunisierung the country in the 1960s and 1970s in Wardak and similarly individual districts, such as Markaz -e Behsud in De Beshsud Markaz. The province's name is borrowed from a tribe of the Pashtuns, which is native to Southeast Asia and Central Asia. Governor Mohammad Halim is currently Fedai.
