Măieruș

Nußbach (Romanian Maierus, outdated Măeruş, Magherus, Măghieruş, Alun; Hungarian Szászmagyarós or magyaros ) is a municipality in the district of Brasov in Transylvania, Romania.

Location

The place Nußbach is located on the National Road (drum National) DN 13 and is the northernmost municipality in Burzenlandes, 30 km from the county capital Braşov (Kronstadt) away.

History

The place was in a royal privilege that Kronstadt and the Burzenländern zusprach legal advantages, mentioned in documents for the first time under the name villa nucum in 1377.

Population

1869 lived in Nußbach 915 Saxons, 514 Romanians and 40 residents of other nationalities. In 1930 there were 966 Saxons, 410 Romanians and 249 others.

Prior to the changes of 1989 were still alive 635 Saxony (about 35 % of the total population) in Nußbach, after the exodus of the 1990s, the number of Germans has shrunk to 113 ( in 2002). In 2009 102 members in the Protestant German church were still registered.
