Majesty of the Seas (mini)

The Majesty of the Seas is a barge and the largest cruise ship in the world model, the ocean-going cruise ship Majesty of the Seas modeled. It is 33.50 meters long and 4.75 meters wide. The height is 4.60 meters and a draft of 1.06 meters. The ship has a displacement of 90 tons. With a height of 3.54 m from the water line ( without chimney; 5.54 m with chimney), the ship is able to sail through the locks and canals of Europe.

Formation

The qualified electrician and former miner François Zanella ( b. 1949 ), whose hobby was already in his youth the Ship, the ship has the original plans at a scale of 1:8 in almost the sole work in eleven years of construction, approximately 30,000 work hours and self- cost of 500,000 euros rebuilt in his garden in Morsbach. He had originally only planned, ( ie with 16.25 meters in length ) to recreate the ship in 1:16 scale, but his wife persuaded him to build a larger ship. Support in the form of components such as the two propellers and equipment parts such as furniture, carpets and bathroom he received it from different yards, including the builder of the great Majesty of the Seas, the shipyard Chantiers de l' Atlantique in Saint- Nazaire.

Equipment

The interior is not to scale - it is, rather, a houseboat with comparatively luxurious furnishings. The interior consists largely of components of eight cruise ships together, which have provided the shipyards Zanella available. Spread over two floors and 160 sqm living area there is a dining room, two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a bunk. Add to this a lift, a garage for a small car and a 60 m² terrace on the roof. Is powered by the ship of two diesel engines with 100 hp. In the bulbous bow, two bow thrusters, each 52 HP for easier docking and berthing are installed.

Launch

The transport of the ship in the Lorraine Sarreguemines began on 21 June 2005 and was to last three days. As low loader, the ship was brought 60 kilometer route over land to the Saar. On 23 June 2005, the Majesty of the Seas was lowered into the water in the Saar and baptized by the rower Maud Fontenoy. Until recently, was not quite sure if the ship are just in the water or would have list. The transport was a lot of media in France and was accompanied besides several thousand onlookers by television crews.

The cost of transportation in the amount of 120,000 euros has taken over the city of Sarreguemines - that Zanella had to open his ship a few months in the service of the city for tourists and guide them through the ship. In the spring of 2006 he went himself with his ship on a tour in France. Until then, he still completed the interior design. Today he lives with his wife on the ship.
