Malham Tarn
The Malham Tarn is a lake in the British county of North Yorkshire.
It has a diameter of about 800 meters and is situated in the Yorkshire Dales. The distance to the place Malham, after which it is named, is about 4 kilometers. The lake is man made and is part of the part is the center of a nature reserve of the same name.
With 377 meters height, it is sometimes referred to as the highest lake in England (but see Innominate Tarn). With an area of 62 hectares, it is a maximum of 4.4, an average of only 2.4 meters deep.
The Malham Tarn inspired Charles Kingsley 's novel The Water Babies ( The water children).
