Mama Ocllo

Mama Ocllo ( in Peruvian Quechua case Mama Uqllu ) is in the mythology of the Incas a reproductive capacity deity and mother. In a legend of the Incan she is the daughter of the sun god Inti and his wife Mama Killa, and sister of the first Inca ruler Manco Capac.

Together with her to her brother Manco Capac have been sent by Inti on the ground to improve the world. Inti gave them with a golden rod ( Tupayawri ), which should fall on a fertile place in the ground, where they could found a city. They should have reached on the sunny island in Lake Titicaca, the earth, and after some searching, the rod had sunk in the ground, after which they founded the city Qusqu ( Cusco ), and thus the Inca empire.
