Mammillaria morganiana is a species of the genus Mammillaria in the cactus family ( Cactaceae ). The specific epithet honors morganiana the U.S. optometrists and Sukkulentenliebhaber Meredith Walter Morgan (1887-1957) of Richmond.

Description

Mammillaria morganiana grows first single, later dichotomously branching and forming groups. The spherical to short cylindrical shoots are bright green with blue eingesengtem apex. They are up to 8 inches in diameter in size. The pyramidal warts have milky sap. The axillae are covered with fine, up to 2 centimeters long hair. The 4-5 central spines are straight, needle-like, white with brown tip and 1 inches long. The 40 to 50 radial spines are white, very fine, acicular to hairy, twisted and interlocking and up to 1.2 inches long.

The cream-colored to pink flowers have a deep pink center strip. They are 1.5 inches long and have a diameter of just such. The red fruits contain brown seeds.

Distribution, systematics and hazard

Mammillaria morganiana is common in the Mexican state of Guanajuato. The first description was in 1933 by Ernst crucible ( 1879-1936 ).

In the Red List of Threatened Species IUCN is the species as "Data Deficient ( DD)", ie out with no sufficient data.
