Manapouri

Manapouri is a small village in the southwest of New Zealand's South Island and has about 300 inhabitants. The place is attributed to the Fiordland. This 1989 only informally existing region is the least accessible and least populated area of the two main islands.

Manapouri is located on the eastern shore of Lake Manapouri. In the 1960s, the largest underground power station in the country at Lake Manapouri was built with the Manapouri power station, which is located mostly underground. Despite significant protests across the country, this project has been driven, but an artificial increase in the water level of the lake has not been realized because of the protests.
