Mandla

Mandla (Hindi: मंडला ) is a town in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh and is situated on a bend of the river Narmada. The NH 12A connects the city with the nearly 100 km from the nearest large city Jabalpur. A car ride usually takes under three hours. Approx. 40 km southeast of the city is the Kanha National Park. There is a connection to the railway network.

According to the census conducted in 2001 Mandla has 45 907 inhabitants. Of these, 51% male and 49 % female. The Analphabetisierungsquote was 77% (82 % of men and 72 % of women ), well above the national average ( almost 60 %).
