Government

Manfalut (Arabic منفلوط, Manfalut DMG ) is a city in Middle Egypt Asyut Governorate. It is the administrative center of the district Manfalut. Manfalut in 2005 had 84,000 inhabitants.

The city is situated on the western bank of the Nile and is the starting point of the ancient caravan route Darb at- Tawil by Balat. Today in the town of a passenger train station, along the lines of Alexandria - Sohag lies - Luxor, Asyut - Giza, Asyut - al - Minya, Cairo Ramses Station - Aswan Dam, Luxor - Port Said and al - Minya.

The city is the seat of a Titularbistums the Coptic Church. In the vicinity of the ancient Egyptian necropolis Manfalut Dara is with the Chui - pyramid. About 12 kilometers east of the village of Deir el- Manfalut Gebrawi lies with an eponymous necropolis.
