Manfred Pohlschmidt
Manfred " Manni " Pohlschmidt ( born August 27, 1940) is a former German football player. He played as a striker for Preußen Münster, Hamburger SV and FC Schalke 04 a total of 185 times in the Bundesliga.
Life and career
Pohlschmidt played in youth when RSV Münster, before he moved to city rivals SC Prussia 1958. The two-footed striker played with the Prussians in the Oberliga West and was one of 1963/64, the root cadres of Prussia in the first season in the Bundesliga. On the very first match he delivered the presentation to Falk Dorr 1-0 in the 1-1 draw against Hamburger SV; He scored his first Bundesliga goal on Matchday 7 with a header to make it 1-0 in the match against Borussia Dortmund, which was still lost with 1:2. A goal he scored in the penultimate game at Werder Bremen for interim 1-1 draw, but the 2:4 defeat sealed the relegation of Prussia. In last season's game Pohlschmidt get two goals in the 4-2 victory against Hertha BSC, but the Berliners had been a counter over Munster in the account and kept the class. Overall, he came into the season 30 games 25 times for use, scoring six goals.
After 24 games and 15 goals for the SC Prussia in the Regionalliga West, the striker moved in 1965 to the Bundesliga for Hamburger SV. In Hamburg he advanced in the 1965/66 season to the scorer, scoring 18 goals in 29 games the most goals for his team. However, in the following season he was able to record only two goals in 26 league games, the same number as in the DFB Cup, in which he was successful in the first round against Altona 93 and in the semifinal against Alemannia Aachen; in the final subject of the HSV Bayern Munich 0:4. After the 1970/71 season Pohlschmidt went back to Münster, where he accepted the offer to establish a professional existence with a lottery and pools business. This business he conducted until 2006. Besides he played and coached soccer in smaller clubs. In the 2007 /08 season he coached the first women's team of TuS Saxonia Münster, which rose this season with a " walkthrough " of the national league in the fifth division. He subsequently resigned as coach.
