Manfred Pohlschmidt

Manfred " Manni " Pohlschmidt ( born August 27, 1940) is a former German football player. He played as a striker for Preußen Münster, Hamburger SV and FC Schalke 04 a total of 185 times in the Bundesliga.

Life and career

Pohlschmidt played in youth when RSV Münster, before he moved to city rivals SC Prussia 1958. The two-footed striker played with the Prussians in the Oberliga West and was one of 1963/64, the root cadres of Prussia in the first season in the Bundesliga. On the very first match he delivered the presentation to Falk Dorr 1-0 in the 1-1 draw against Hamburger SV; He scored his first Bundesliga goal on Matchday 7 with a header to make it 1-0 in the match against Borussia Dortmund, which was still lost with 1:2. A goal he scored in the penultimate game at Werder Bremen for interim 1-1 draw, but the 2:4 defeat sealed the relegation of Prussia. In the 2007 /08 season he coached the first women's team of TuS Saxonia Münster, which rose this season with a " walkthrough " of the national league in the fifth division. He subsequently resigned as coach.
