Mangyongdae-guyok

Man'gyŏngdae - guyŏk is one of the 18 districts of Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea.

It lies in the west of the city next to the Maxima County. To the north of the district is the city district Hyŏngjesan - guyŏk. In the east it borders with the Pot'ong input to the districts Pot'onggang - guyŏk and P'yŏngch'ŏn - guyŏk. To the south is the Taedong - gang the border to Rakrang - guyŏk. The county was established in September 1959 as a municipality. Within the district lies the mountain Ryongak -san and between the border of the Maxima County of Taebo -san.

Traffic

About the Highway of heroic youth is a direct connection to Namp'o. The 1989 finished Kwangbok Street forms a central main road through Man'gyŏngdae - guyŏk.

Buildings and Facilities

Adjacent is the circus Pyongyang Schoolchildren's Palace and Mangyongdae. In the Kwangbok street there are five distinctive residential blocks with up to 43 floors and a total of 25,000 housing units.

Internationally known that's been open since 1989 Ch'ŏngnyŏn Hot'el first class which extends with its 30 floors at the junction between the Chongchun and Kwangbok Street.

In the district of Mangyongdae is the Mangyongdae Revolution Museum and the alleged birthplace of Kim Il-sung, who also spent his childhood here. To the west in the same district is located since 1982 the Mangyongdae amusement park. In 1948, in the Mangyongdae Kim Il-sung Military University, founded a secondary school for the training of officers of the Korean People's Army. It is considered today as the most important military college of North Korea.

In the district Chilgol -dong, the Korean Committee of the International Taekwondo Federation has its headquarters

To the Chongchun street focus on the three districts Sonnae -dong, Kumsong -dong -dong and Chukjon several modern sports facilities, the military and the Schoolchildren's Palace Mangjongdae and Man'gyŏngdae Revolutionary School, an elementary and middle school for children of State officials are associated.

In Moranbong - guyŏk are in Ryongbong -ri two of the National Treasures of North Korea.

Administrative units

Man'gyŏngdae - guyŏk is in 19 administrative units divided Dongs. The districts Chilgol -dong -dong and Kumsung are also further subdivided into three each and Tangsang -dong, Palgol -dong, Chang Hung -dong -dong Chukchon and Kalrimkil -dong into two administrative units.
